Environmental Impact Assessment (6 credits)
Note that this course may be offered over two successive trimesters.
The course provides a critical overview of the theory and practice of Environmental Impact Assessment as operated internationally. This covers the purpose and aims of EIA; EIA administration and practice; key elements of the EIA as associated assessment processes; role of people’s participation; post-EIA strategies; and understanding of the strengths and limitations of EIA. A constituent part of the course is to know the standard format of an EIA Statement and devise ways to customize the material to reflect local jurisdictional procedures and issues.
