This course uses a critical approach to
analyze the relationship between theories of socio-economic development policies
and environmental degradation, the ways in which policies enhance environmental
protection or exacerbate chances for sustainable ecological development. It
covers the social movements that may emerge around the environmental concerns and
the social processes that lead to environmental risks.
